Franklin American Mortgage Championship facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Franklin American Mortgage Championship was a special golf tournament for professional women golfers. It was part of the LPGA Tour, which is a major series of events for top female golfers. This tournament happened every year between 2004 and 2006. It was played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.

The main sponsor of the event was the Franklin American Mortgage Company. This company helps people get loans to buy homes. Famous country music singers Vince Gill and Amy Grant were the hosts of the tournament.

A great part of this event was that the money raised helped a good cause. All the profits went to the Monroe Carrel, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University. This hospital helps many children who need medical care.

The tournament was planned to happen again in 2007. It was scheduled for April 19 to April 22. The head of the LPGA Tour, Carolyn Bivens, even announced it. But less than two weeks later, the main sponsor decided not to continue their contract. Because of this, the tournament was removed from the 2007 schedule and didn't happen again.
