Fraxern is a small town, also known as a municipality, in Austria. It is found in the Feldkirch area, which is part of the state of Vorarlberg.
This lovely place is nestled in the mountains near Feldkirch. It sits quite high up, at about 817 meters (2,680 feet) above sea level. A big part of Fraxern, about 54.6%, is covered by forests. Another 26.7% is open meadows.
People first wrote about Fraxern way back in 1127. Back then, it was called 'Fraxnara,' which means 'ash.' This name likely came from the ash trees common in the area.
Fraxern is well-known for its delicious cherries. They even make a special cherry drink called schnaps there!
