The Story of Freddie Foxxx
Freddie Foxxx started his rapping career in the early 1980s. He was very passionate about music from a young age.
Early Career and Missed Opportunities
In 1986, he recorded a song called "You Gotta Come Out Fresh / Handling Things." He used the name Freddie C. at that time. He was part of a group called Supreme Force.
Later in 1986, Freddie Foxxx was supposed to meet with a producer named Eric B.. Eric B. was looking for a rapper to work with. However, Foxxx missed the meeting. Eric B. then teamed up with another rapper, Rakim, and they formed the famous group Eric B. and Rakim.
First Album and New Beginnings
Even though he missed that chance, Eric B. still helped Freddie Foxxx. Eric B. and Foxxx worked together to produce Foxxx's first full music collection, called an LP. This album, titled Freddie Foxxx Is Here, came out in 1989. It was released through MCA Records.
After this, he left MCA Records. He then joined a music group called Flavor Unit. This group was started by the famous artist Queen Latifah.
Challenges and Comebacks
In 1993, Freddie Foxxx had a second album ready. It was called Crazy Like A Foxxx. However, the record company, Epic Records, decided not to release it. Only a few special copies were shared.
After this, Foxxx became well-known for appearing on other artists' songs. These guest appearances are called "cameos." He worked with groups like Boogie Down Productions and Naughty by Nature. One of his most famous cameos was on the song "The Militia" with Gang Starr. This song was on their album Moment of Truth in 1998. "The Militia" was also released as a single (a song released on its own). This helped build excitement for Freddie Foxxx's next album.
Taking the Independent Path
Freddie Foxxx learned a lot from his past experiences with big record companies. For his next album, he decided to go the independent route. This means he worked with smaller labels or released music himself.
His album Industry Shakedown featured music made by famous hip hop producers. These included DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and The Alchemist. The only guest artists on this album were the members of M.O.P.
Later Albums and Collaborations
After Industry Shakedown was successful, Foxxx released his fourth album, The Konexion, in 2003. This album was also true to his style. It included help from DJ Premier and DJ Clark Kent.
Freddie Foxxx also helped with the music for the video game WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006. He had two of his own songs on the soundtrack. He also appeared on another song and produced all the hip hop songs for the game. He even appeared on John Cena's album, You Can't See Me.
In 2006, Foxxx released his fifth album, Street Triumph. In 2009, he released his sixth album, Amerikkan Black Man.
His second album, Crazy Like a Foxxx, which was not fully released before, finally came out officially on July 29, 2008.
