Frederik Batti Sorring, also known as FBS, was an important politician from Indonesia. He was born on May 28, 1955, and passed away on December 21, 2020. He was a member of the Democratic Party.
He held a big job called Regent for the North Toraja Regency. This area is in South Sulawesi and is home to many Torajan people. He was the Regent from 2011 to 2016.
Before that, he was the first Vice Regent for the Asmat Regency in Papua province. He served in that role from 2005 to 2010.
Early Life and Career
Frederik Batti Sorring was born on May 28, 1955. His birthplace was Tana Toraja Regency in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
He started his political career as the Vice Regent of Asmat Regency. This was in Western New Guinea. He served from 2005 to 2010. During this time, he worked with Regent Yuvensius Alfonsius Biakai.
Becoming a Regent
In 2010, Batti Sorring was chosen to be the Regent of North Toraja Regency. He ran for this position with his partner, Frederik Buntang Rombelayuk, who became the Vice Regent.
They officially started their jobs in March 2011. They served the people of North Toraja until 2016.
Later Life and Passing
In December 2020, Frederik Batti Sorring became sick. He tested positive for COVID-19. This was during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.
He passed away from problems related to COVID-19. This happened at Grestelina Hospital in Makassar on December 21, 2020. He was 65 years old.
Batti Sorring was buried in the Kurra district. This area is also in Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi.
