Friðrik Ómar Hjörleifsson, born on October 4, 1981, is a talented singer from Iceland. He is well-known for his amazing voice. Many people know him from the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. He represented Iceland there as the lead singer of a band called Eurobandið.

Friðrik Ómar's Music Journey
Friðrik Ómar was born in Akureyri, a town in Iceland. He started playing drums when he was only five years old. Later, he was asked to sing at a school festival. This was his first time performing for a big audience. Everyone was very impressed by his singing!
Becoming a Singer
After that first performance, Friðrik Ómar won many singing competitions in his hometown. He then decided that he wanted to be a singer. He has worked with many famous artists in Iceland. In 2006, he released his first solo album, called Annan dag. He was even nominated for "singer of the year" at the Icelandic Music Awards.
Eurovision Adventures
In March 2006, Friðrik Ómar teamed up with another Icelandic singer, Regína Ósk. They formed a band called Eurobandið. In 2007, Friðrik Ómar competed in the Icelandic finals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. He performed his song "Eldur" and came in second place.
The next year, in 2008, Friðrik Ómar and Eurobandið went to Belgrade, Serbia. They performed their song "This Is My Life" at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. They did very well! They finished 8th in the semi-finals. In the grand finals, they placed 14th. This was Iceland's best result since 2003.
Friðrik Ómar returned to Eurovision in 2009. He was a backing vocalist for the Icelandic entry performed by Yohanna. Her song placed 2nd, which was a fantastic achievement! In 2019, he again competed in the Icelandic finals for Eurovision. He sang "Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?" and came in second place once more.
