Friðrik Ómar Hjörleifsson, born on October 4, 1981, is a talented singer from Iceland. He is famous for representing his country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. He performed as the lead singer of the band Eurobandið.

Friðrik Ómar's Musical Journey
Friðrik Ómar was born in Akureyri, a town in Iceland. He started playing drums when he was only five years old. Later, he was asked to sing at a school festival. This was his first time performing for an audience other than his mom!
People were really impressed by his singing. He went on to win many music competitions in his hometown. After these wins, he decided that he wanted to be a singer. He has worked with some of the most successful musicians in Iceland.
Early Career and First Album
In 2006, Friðrik Ómar released his first solo album, called Annan dag. This album was very popular. He was even nominated for "singer of the year" at the Icelandic Music Awards.
In March 2006, he teamed up with another Icelandic singer, Regína Ósk. Together, they formed the band called Eurobandið.
Competing in Eurovision
Friðrik Ómar has a long history with the Eurovision Song Contest.
Eurovision Song Contest 2007
In 2007, Friðrik Ómar competed in the Icelandic finals for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. He performed his song "Eldur" and came in second place.
Eurovision Song Contest 2008
The next year, in 2008, Friðrik Ómar and Eurobandið got to represent Iceland! They performed their song "This Is My Life" at the contest in Belgrade, Serbia. They did very well, finishing 8th in the semi-finals. In the grand finals, they placed 14th. This was Iceland's best result since 2003!
Later Eurovision Appearances
Friðrik Ómar returned to the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 as a backing vocalist. He sang with Yohanna, who represented Iceland that year and came in second place.
In 2019, he tried again in the Icelandic finals for Eurovision. He performed the song "Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?" and once again finished in second place.
