Frida Marie Hansdotter (born 13 December 1985) is a Swedish former alpine ski racer. She was an Olympic champion in slalom. Frida was known for her skills in technical ski events. Her father, Hans Johansson, was also an alpine racer. She is also a second cousin of Prince Daniel of Sweden.

Frida announced her retirement from alpine skiing on March 6, 2019. This was after the 2018–2019 ski season. In February 2022, she was chosen to be a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). She also joined the IOC Athletes' Commission. She will serve for eight years in both roles.

Frida's Skiing Journey

Frida Hansdotter was born in Västerås, Sweden. She represented Sweden in three Winter Olympics. She also competed in seven World Championships.

First World Cup Win

Frida achieved her first World Cup victory in Kranjska Gora in 2014. Before this win, she had finished second eight times. This was a record for the most second-place finishes without a win in World Cup history!

Slalom Success

Frida was a runner-up in the slalom season standings in 2014 and 2015. She then won the slalom title in 2016. This was a big achievement in her career.

Championship Medals

Frida won three medals in the slalom event at the World Championships:

  • A silver medal in 2015.
  • Two bronze medals in 2013 and 2017.

Olympic Gold Medal

At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Frida won the gold medal. She became the Olympic champion in the women's slalom event. This was a highlight of her amazing career.
