How Fried Coke Began

Fried Coke was first introduced in 2006. It was created by an inventor named Abel Gonzales Jr.. He showed his new dessert at the famous State Fair of Texas. Abel Gonzales Jr. is also known for creating other deep-fried fair foods. These include deep-fried butter and deep-fried beer.

At the 2006 Texas State Fair, Fried Coke won an award. It was named the "Most Creative" food among all the vendors. People in Texas loved it right away. In just the first two weeks, 10,000 cups of Fried Coke were sold!

A Popular Treat

This unique dessert quickly became popular in other places. By 2007, it was sold at least 47 state fairs across the United States. Now, you can find Fried Coke sold all over the world. Different Kinds to Try

Since Fried Coke first appeared in 2006, many new versions have been made. These variations often use different types of soda and various toppings. For example, a New York Times article from 2007 talked about deep-fried Pepsi. This was at the Indiana State Fair.

The deep-fried Pepsi was served as small balls. People ate them with toothpicks. They were described as tasting like a doughnut hole. But they also had a clear Pepsi flavor. These deep-fried Pepsi balls were served with different toppings. You could choose cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.
