Friendly is a community in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP) because it's a recognized area for counting people, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city. Friendly is located just south of Washington, D.C.. In 2020, about 9,937 people lived there.
For a long time, Friendly was mostly a rural area with farms. Around 1960, more and more homes started to be built. Today, new neighborhoods are still being developed. Friendly once had its own post office. Now, mail for Friendly goes through the Fort Washington post office. The name "Friendly" is most famous because of Friendly High School. This school serves many students from the wider Fort Washington area. A road called Allentown Road connects Friendly to Andrews Air Force Base.

Population and People
Friendly has grown in population over the years. In 2010, there were 9,250 people living there. By 2020, the population had increased to 9,937 people.
The community is home to a diverse group of people. In 2020, most residents were African American. There are also many people of White, Asian, and Hispanic or Latino backgrounds.
Getting Around
Potomac Airfield is an airport located within the Friendly community. Even though it's in Friendly, it uses a Fort Washington mailing address.
Schools in Friendly
Students in Friendly attend schools that are part of the Prince George's County School District.
The elementary schools that serve Friendly are Rose Valley Elementary School and Tayac Elementary School. For middle school and high school, students go to Isaac J. Gourdine Middle School and Friendly High School.
Some areas that used to be part of Friendly now belong to the Fort Washington community. Schools like Fort Washington Elementary School and Accokeek Middle School serve these areas.
