The community of Fritz has an interesting history regarding its name. Before it was called Fritz, it was known by two other names: Jondun and Nola.

Four years later, in 1916, the name of the community was officially changed to Fritz. This new name was chosen to honor a local resident named Fritz Arnett. He was the person who had submitted the very first application to establish the post office there.
