Early Career in Radio
Fritz Egner started his career in radio in the early 1970s. He worked for the AFN. This was a radio station for American soldiers stationed in Germany.
In 1978, he joined Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). This is a big public broadcasting company in Bavaria, Germany. He worked there with his friends and fellow broadcasters, Thomas Gottschalk and Günther Jauch.
Becoming a TV Star
Fritz Egner became very popular on German television. He hosted a fun game show called Dingsda. This show aired from 1985 to 1994. On Dingsda, children would try to explain words. Adults then had to guess what the words were.
Other TV Shows and Events
Fritz Egner also had other important TV roles. He was a commentator for Germany at the 1990 Eurovision Song Contest. This is a huge international music competition.
Later, he hosted the ZDF show Die Versteckte Kamera. This show was on TV from 1995 to 2003. It featured funny hidden camera pranks. For Sat.1 viewers, he hosted shows like WWW – Die Witzigsten Werbespots der Welt. This show featured funny commercials from all over the world. He also hosted XXO – Fritz & Co.
