Fry's Turkish Delight is a tasty chocolate bar made by Cadbury. It first came out in the UK in 1914. The company that first made it was J. S. Fry & Sons in Bristol.

This unique chocolate bar has a soft, rose-flavored Turkish delight center. This sweet, jelly-like candy is then covered in smooth milk chocolate. Even after Fry & Sons joined with Cadbury in 1919, the "Fry's" name stayed on the wrapper.

Around the World

In some countries, like Australia and New Zealand, Cadbury makes more than just the regular bar. They have special mini-Easter eggs, ice cream, and even big chocolate blocks with Turkish delight inside.

In Ireland, there's a different version called "Dairy Milk Turkish." It uses Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, which gives it a slightly different taste. The center is also a bit different from the original.

Where It's Made

As of 2010, most Fry's Turkish Delight bars for the UK are made in Poland. The company has also changed the colors they use in the candy. They now use natural colors like carotene (E160a) and Beetroot Red (E162). They no longer use artificial colors. However, in New Zealand, the bars are still made with artificial colors.

Famous Ads

Since the late 1950s, Fry's Turkish Delight has used a famous slogan in its British TV advertisements. The slogan is "Full of Eastern Promise." These ads often showed scenes that looked exotic and mysterious.

In the 1960s, the model and actress Jane Lumb appeared in some of these commercials. In 2000, the "Eastern Promise" ads were voted 37th in a TV poll of the "100 Greatest Adverts." This shows how memorable and popular they were!
