Fulda is a small community in Spencer County, Indiana. It is not an official city or town, but a group of homes and businesses. In Fulda, you can find the Spencer County Memorial Forest. This forest has a special memorial for veterans of World War II. Every year, on the first weekend of October, the community holds a fun shooting match.
History of Fulda
Fulda was first settled in the 1840s. Many of the first people to live here were from Germany. They named the community after a city called Fulda in Germany.
A post office opened in Fulda in 1850. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. The post office closed down in 1995.
The local elementary school in Fulda closed its doors in 1973. After that, all the students from Fulda went to school in the nearby town of St. Meinrad.
The St. Boniface Catholic Church is a very old and important building in Fulda. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it is recognized as a special historical site.
