Saint Meinrad is a small community in Indiana, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for population, but it's not officially a town or city.
Saint Meinrad is located in Spencer County. It sits along the Anderson River. A very important place here is the St. Meinrad Archabbey. This is a large monastery. The community is about 55 miles east of Evansville.
Because of the Archabbey, Saint Meinrad is part of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. Most of Spencer County belongs to a different church area. This area is called the Diocese of Evansville.
A Look Back: History
The community of Saint Meinrad was first planned in 1861. It got its name from the nearby St. Meinrad Archabbey. A post office opened in Saint Meinrad in 1862. This allowed people to send and receive mail.

- Howard Schnellenberger: He was a famous college football coach. He also coached for the Baltimore Colts. He led the University of Miami football team to win their first national championship in 1982.
