Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo was a popular amusement park located in Angola, Indiana. Even though it was smaller than huge parks like Cedar Point or Michigan's Adventure, it was still one of the biggest parks in its area. For a while, it had the only roller coaster in Indiana with an upside-down loop, called the Afterburner. This changed when Steel Hawg opened at Indiana Beach in 2008. Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo closed its doors in 2008.

Exciting Rides and Attractions
Fun Spot Amusement Park & Zoo had many different rides for everyone to enjoy. From thrilling roller coasters to fun family rides and a special area just for younger kids, there was always something to do.
Thrilling Roller Coasters
The park was home to a few exciting roller coasters that got your heart racing!
Afterburner: The Looping Coaster
The Afterburner was a very special roller coaster. It was the only one in Indiana that took riders upside down! This ride was originally a test model for a company called Arrow Development. It first opened at Fun Spot in 1991 and was a big draw for thrill-seekers.
Zyklon: The Twisty Coaster
Another popular roller coaster was the Zyklon. This coaster had lots of twists and turns, making for a fun and exciting ride. It was built by Pinfari and was moved to Fun Spot in 1990. After the park closed, the Zyklon found a new home at Santa's Village AZoosment Park.
Little Dipper Safari Coaster
For younger adventurers, the Little Dipper Safari Coaster was a perfect first roller coaster. It was a smaller, gentler ride located in the Kiddieland section of the park.
Fun for Everyone: Other Rides
Besides roller coasters, Fun Spot had many other rides that families and friends could enjoy together.
Classic Spinners
Rides like the Calypso, Scrambler, and Tilt-a-Whirl were popular spinning rides that would make you laugh and maybe a little dizzy! The Calypso even moved to Holiday World & Splashin' Safari after Fun Spot closed.
High-Flying Adventures
The Flying Scooters let you control your own ride as you soared through the air. There was also a classic Ferris Wheel that offered great views of the park from above.
Water Fun
On hot days, guests could cool off on the Waterslides or take a gentle trip on the Wetboats.
Kiddieland Fun
The park had a special area called Kiddieland, designed just for younger children. Here, kids could enjoy rides like the Space Train, Granny Bugs, Bouncy Room, and a Kiddie Ferris Wheel. There were also Pony Carts and Hampton Cars for little drivers.
Unique Attractions
Fun Spot also had some unique attractions that made it special.
Willie the Whale
One interesting feature was Willie the Whale, a large concrete sculpture of a whale. This sculpture had quite a journey! It started at the Indianapolis Zoo, then moved to a water park, and finally came to Fun Spot. After the park closed, Willie the Whale moved to the Indianapolis Museum of Art for a while before finding its current home in Foster Park in Kokomo, Indiana.
