Fuqua Lake is a large man-made lake, also known as a reservoir. It is located in Stephens County, Oklahoma. The lake is about 21 miles (34 km) northeast of the city of Duncan.
This important lake was built in 1962. It is the biggest of four reservoirs that provide drinking water for the city of Duncan. The lake was named after Herbert Breedlove (Babe) Fuqua. He was a businessman who worked with oil and also a politician from Fort Worth, Texas.
A special wall, called an earthen dam, holds back the water to create the lake. This dam was also built in 1962.
