Discovering Furnessville
A Glimpse into the Past
Furnessville got its start a long time ago. In 1861, a special building called a post office opened there. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1919. The community was named after a man named Edwin L. Furness. He was the local postmaster, which means he was in charge of the post office.
