Gaby Vallejo Canedo (born September 24, 1941 – died January 20, 2024) was a famous writer from Bolivia. She wrote more than 40 books. Her stories included novels and books especially for children.

Gaby Vallejo Canedo was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, on September 24, 1941. She went to the Normal Catholic Institute in Cochabamba. There, she became a Professor of Literature.
She also studied at the University of San Simón. She earned a degree in Education Sciences. Later, she got a special diploma in Latin American Literature. This was from the Caro and Cuervo Institute in Bogotá.
Vallejo taught at the University of San Simón for 18 years. She shared her knowledge with many students.
She became a member of the Academia Boliviana de la Lengua on July 27, 2001. This is a very important group for the Spanish language in Bolivia. Gaby Vallejo Canedo passed away on January 20, 2024. She was 82 years old.

Her Books and Stories
Gaby Vallejo's writing style is known as literary realism. This means her stories often showed real life as it was. Her novel ¡Hijo de opa! was even made into a movie. The film was called Los Hermanos Cartagena and came out in 1984. It was directed by Paolo Agazzi.
In 2017, a book was written about her work. It was called La Narrativa Contestataria y Social de Gaby Vallejo Canedo. This book looked closely at her stories and their messages.
