Early Life and Education

Gail Mitchell was born and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia. She is the youngest of six children and the only girl.

Her interest in acting started in a drama class at Stephenson High School. After high school, she went to Valdosta State University. At first, she planned to study accounting. However, a professor encouraged her to follow her passion for acting, so she changed her major.

While in college, she joined the Delta Sigma Theta sorority. She also decided to use a stage name. She chose "Gail Bean" because her friends in high school often called her "Bean."

Gail Bean's career took off with her role in the 2015 movie Unexpected. In the film, she played a high school student named Jasmine who is expecting a baby. The movie was shown at the famous Sundance Film Festival. Her performance was praised by critics, and the website TheWrap called her one of the top new stars of the festival.

After this success, Bean appeared in several well-known television series. She had roles in shows like Insecure, Chicago P.D., and Grey's Anatomy.

Snowfall and P-Valley

In 2018, Bean became widely known for her role as Wanda Bell in the TV series Snowfall. She played a young woman who faced many difficult challenges and personal struggles. Her powerful acting in the show earned her a nomination for a Black Reel Award. It was announced that she will play Wanda again in an upcoming spinoff series of Snowfall.
