Gail Susan Mancuso (born July 14, 1958) is an American director who works on both movies and television shows. She is known for directing popular TV comedies like Roseanne, Friends, 30 Rock, and Modern Family.

Gail Mancuso's Early Career

Gail Mancuso grew up in Melrose Park, Illinois. She started her career in television by working behind the scenes on talk shows. Later, she became a script supervisor for a comedy show called Brothers. A script supervisor makes sure everything in the script is followed correctly during filming.

In 1989, Gail became an associate director for the popular TV show Roseanne. This meant she helped the main director. In 1991, she got the chance to become one of the main directors for Roseanne and continued in that role for many years.

Directing Popular TV Shows

After Roseanne, Gail Mancuso directed episodes for many other well-known television series. Some of these include Friends, Dharma and Greg, and Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place.

In 2007, she started working on the sitcom Rules of Engagement. She also directed episodes of 30 Rock and Scrubs. Her work on 30 Rock earned her a Gracie Award in 2008, which recognizes women in media.

Awards and Movie Directing

Gail Mancuso has received several important awards for her directing. In 2011, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for an episode of Modern Family called "Slow Down Your Neighbors". She won the Emmy Award for directing on Modern Family twice: first in 2013 for the episode "Arrested", and again in 2014 for the episode "Las Vegas". In 2019, Gail Mancuso directed her first full-length movie, A Dog's Journey. This movie was a sequel to A Dog's Purpose, and it was a heartwarming story about a dog's adventures.
