Galbraith is a small, quiet place located in Kossuth County, Iowa. It's known as an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county area.
A Look Back: Galbraith's History
Imagine a time when people sent letters and packages mostly through a special building called a post office! Galbraith had its very own post office. It first opened its doors in 1902.
This post office helped people send and receive mail for about 11 years. It closed down in 1913. The community got its name from an important person. This person was a senator from Iowa named Galbraith. A senator is a leader who helps make laws for their state.
In 1925, Galbraith was a very small place. Only about 20 people lived there at that time.
