Gale Agbossoumonde is a former professional soccer player. He was born on November 17, 1991, in Togo. Gale played as a defender. He represented the United States in international games.

Early Life and Moving to the U.S.

Gale Agbossoumonde was born in Togo. When he was a baby, his family moved to Benin. Later, when he was eight years old, his family moved to Syracuse, New York. A church charity helped them make this big move. Gale went to Christian Brothers Academy for a while. He even helped his school soccer team reach the state championship finals.

Gale's Club Soccer Journey

After playing with the U17 national team for a short time, Gale joined the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. This academy is a special place for young soccer players to train. He became a strong player in the center of defense. People praised him for being smart about soccer and using his size well.

Starting Professional Soccer

Gale signed his first professional contract in August 2009 with Miami FC. He played six games in his first season. In January 2010, he went on a six-month loan to Sporting Braga in Portugal. A "loan" means a player temporarily plays for another team. Braga decided not to keep him after the loan ended.

Playing in Europe

In 2011, Gale was loaned to Djurgårdens IF, a team in Sweden. He played his first full game for them in April and was even named "Man of the Match." He played eight games for Djurgårdens IF. However, they also decided not to buy him, and he left the club in July 2011.

Later in 2011, Gale was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. He played one game for their reserve team. But this loan was also short.

Back in North America

In February 2012, Gale was loaned to the Carolina RailHawks. This team played in the North American Soccer League (NASL). He played 17 games for them and scored one goal.

In December 2012, Gale joined Toronto FC, a team in MLS. He made his debut for Toronto in April 2013. He played 13 games for Toronto FC.

In May 2014, Gale moved to the Colorado Rapids as part of a trade. He did not play any games for them. His contract with Colorado ended at the end of 2014.

He then signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the NASL in December 2014. He played 11 games for them before being released in October 2015.

In December 2015, Gale signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, another NASL team. He played 29 games and scored one goal for them. His last professional team was the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, which he joined in 2017. He played 11 games for them. His contract was not renewed, and he has not played professionally since then.

Playing for His Country

Gale Agbossoumonde was an important player for the United States U-20 team. He helped the U.S. team qualify for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt. Even though he was only 17, he started every game for the U.S. in that tournament.

He played his first game for the main United States national team on his birthday, November 17, 2010. This game was against South Africa.
