There are at least nine different types, or species, of Galearis orchids known today. One well-known type is the Galearis spectabilis, also called the showy orchis.

What Are Orchids?

Orchids are one of the largest families of flowering plants. They are known for their unique and often colorful flowers. Many orchids have special shapes and patterns that help attract insects for pollination. Galearis orchids are a type of terrestrial orchid. This means they grow in the ground, not on trees like some other orchids.
