How Galle & Jessen Started

Galle & Jessen was created by two friends, Edvard W. Galle and Hans Jessen. They began their sweet business in a small cellar in Store Kongensgade in Copenhagen.

Soon, their candy became so popular that they needed a bigger space! In 1873, they moved to a larger building at Toldbodgade 15.

Growing the Company

As the company grew, it became a "limited company" in 1883. This means it was set up so that many people could invest in it.

In 1884, they opened a big new factory at Vibenhus Runddel. This factory was expanded many times over the years to make even more delicious treats!

Later, in 1971, another well-known Danish candy company, Toms International, bought Galle & Jessen.
