Gallia has an interesting past! The area was first settled and given the name Gallia Furnace in 1846. This happened when a special type of factory, called a blast furnace, was built there.

The Gallia Body Company

Later, from 1938 to 1939, a company called the Gallia Body Company operated in Gallia. This company was actually known before as C.R. Patterson and Sons. They specialized in making bodies for vehicles. Imagine them building the main parts of cars or trucks, like the frame and outer shell, before the engines and other parts were added. This company played a part in the local economy for a short time.
