Gary Beach (born October 10, 1947 – died July 17, 2018) was an American actor. He was famous for his work on Broadway stages, in movies, and on TV shows.
He played important roles like Roger De Bris in the musical The Producers. He also played this role in the movie version. For The Producers, he won a special award called a Tony Award. Gary Beach also played Lumiere in the stage musical of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. This role earned him another Tony Award nomination.

Early Life and Education
Gary Beach was born in a city called Alexandria, Virginia. He went to Groveton High School. After high school, he studied acting at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Interestingly, his co-star from Beauty and the Beast, Terrence Mann, went to the same school.
Acting Career
Gary Beach had a long and successful acting career. He appeared in many popular TV shows. These included Murder, She Wrote, Cheers, and Saved by the Bell. He also lent his voice to an episode of the cartoon Family Guy.
In 1994, Gary Beach created the funny character of Lumiere. This was for the musical Beauty and the Beast. His performance was so good that he was nominated for a Tony Award.
In 2001, he played Roger DeBris in the musical The Producers. This role won him a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He later played this same role in the movie version of The Producers. This made him the first actor to play the same role on Broadway and in a movie at the same time.
Gary Beach also starred as Albin in the Broadway show La Cage aux Folles in 2004. This role earned him his third Tony Award nomination. In 2006, he played Thénardier in the Broadway revival of Les Misérables. He had played this role before in Los Angeles. Later, in 2008, he joined the national tour of Monty Python's Spamalot as King Arthur.
Gary Beach performed in many other Broadway shows. These included Annie, Doonesbury, and 1776. He also toured the country in a play called Legends!. In this play, he worked with famous actresses Mary Martin and Carol Channing.

Gary Beach lived in Palm Springs, California, with his husband, Jeffrey Barnett. He passed away there on July 17, 2018, when he was 70 years old.
