Gary Joseph Garland Houston, born on October 12, 1957, is an American musician and a former professional basketball player. He is also known as the half-brother of the famous singer Whitney Houston.

Gary Garland's Basketball Career
Gary Garland played professional basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was a player for the Denver Nuggets. He played one season with the Nuggets during the 1979–1980 NBA season.
Family and Education
Gary Garland comes from a very musical family! His half-sister was the famous singer Whitney Houston. He also has another half-brother named Michael Houston. All three are children of the talented singer Cissy Houston.
Gary is also related to other well-known singers. He is the cousin of Dionne Warwick and Dee Dee Warwick. He is also the uncle of Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was Whitney Houston's daughter.
Besides his career, Gary Garland studied at DePaul University.
Work as a Vocalist
After his time with the NBA's Denver Nuggets in 1980, Gary Garland began working with his sister, Whitney Houston. He joined her Greatest Love Tour in 1986. On this tour, he sang background vocals and sometimes performed duets with Whitney.
This led to a long working relationship with Whitney Houston. Gary performed as a background singer on many of Whitney's tours. He was part of her tours throughout the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and her Nothing But Love Tour in 2010.
