Gastonia is a small place in Kaufman County, Texas. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government. In 2000, about 30 people lived there. Gastonia is part of the big Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area.

History of Gastonia
People first started living in the area now known as Gastonia in the late 1800s. It grew up near the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks.
How Gastonia Got Its Name
Gastonia was probably named after a local person. His name was Bill Gaston, and he was one of the early settlers.
Early Life in Gastonia
In its early days, Gastonia had a church. It was also an important place for farmers. They used it as a shipping point to send their crops to other places. The most people who ever lived in Gastonia at one time was less than 50. From the late 1970s through 2000, it had about 30 residents.
Gastonia's Location
Gastonia is located in the western-central part of Kaufman County. You can find it along U.S. Highway 175. It's situated between the towns of Kaufman and Crandall.
