Gatot Sudjito (born October 28, 1960 – died January 18, 2021) was an important politician from Indonesia. He was a member of the Golkar political party. Gatot served in different government councils, representing the people of Surabaya and East Java. Later, he became a member of the national parliament until he passed away.

Early Life and School
Gatot Sudjito was born on October 28, 1960, in Sidoarjo, East Java. He started elementary school in 1966 and finished in 1972. He then went to junior high school from 1972 to 1975. After that, he attended a mechanical high school from 1975 to 1979.
Gatot continued his studies at Jember State University in 1981. He earned his first degree in 1987. Later, in 2002, while working in the Surabaya government, he studied for a master's degree. He finished this degree in 2004. Ten years later, he earned a doctor's degree from 17 August University in Surabaya.
Political Journey
Joining the Golkar Party
Gatot joined the Golkar political party in 1992. He quickly became a leader for young people in the party's Surabaya branch. Eight years later, he became the main leader of the party in Surabaya. Gatot also served as a secretary and then a deputy chairman for the party in East Java. He was also the chairman of a related organization called the East Java Familial Consultative Organization of Mutual Assistance.
Serving in Government
Gatot first became a member of a government council in 1997. He was elected to the East Java Regional People's Representative Council. His term was cut short by political changes in Indonesia.
In 1999, Gatot ran for a seat in the Surabaya Regional People's Representative Council. He won and served for five years. In 2004, he was elected again to the East Java Regional People's Representative Council.
Later, Gatot decided to run for a national position. He became a member of the People's Representative Council in 2014. This is like being a member of the national parliament. He was re-elected in 2019. While in the People's Representative Council, Gatot Sudjito worked in Commission V, which handles certain government topics.
Family Life
Gatot was married to Retno Indah. They had one child together.
Passing Away
Gatot passed away on January 18, 2021, at a hospital in Malang. He died due to COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. He was the fifth member of the People's Representative Council to die from COVID-19.
