The Gauze Brook is a small river, also known as a stream, located in South West England. It begins near the village of Littleton Drew in Wiltshire. The brook flows towards the northeast for about 9.1 miles (14.6 km). It eventually joins the larger Bristol Avon near the village of Little Somerford.

Journey of the Gauze Brook

The Gauze Brook starts its journey at West Dunley Farm, just northeast of Littleton Drew in Wiltshire. Here, it is a small, bubbling stream. Its source is about 377 feet (115 meters) above sea level.

Flowing Through the Countryside

From its source, the brook flows northeast. It winds its way through the peaceful area of Dunley Wood. After leaving the wood, it passes to the north of the village of Hullavington.

The stream then goes under the South Wales Main Line. This is a busy railway line that connects different parts of the country.

Reaching Corston and Joining the Avon

Next, the Gauze Brook reaches the village of Corston. You can see the brook flowing calmly through this area.

Just over a mile (about 1.6 km) past Corston, the Gauze Brook completes its journey. It flows into the Bristol Avon near Angrove Farm, close to Little Somerford. The point where it joins the Avon is about 190 feet (58 meters) above sea level.

Importance of Streams

Small streams like the Gauze Brook are very important for the environment. They provide water for plants and animals. They also help to feed larger rivers, which are vital for many communities.
