Gavin Rees (born May 10, 1980) is a boxing trainer and a former professional boxer from Wales. He was a world champion who competed from 1998 to 2014. Gavin held the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title from 2007 to 2008. He also won the British lightweight title twice and the EBU European lightweight title.

Gavin Rees's Boxing Career
Gavin Rees started boxing as a professional in 1998 after having a great amateur career.
Becoming a World Champion
In 2007, Gavin became a world champion! He won the World Boxing Association (WBA) Light Welterweight title. He beat a boxer named Souleymane M'baye after 12 rounds of tough fighting. This was a huge achievement for him.
However, Gavin lost his world title in his very first defense. In March 2008, he was defeated by Andreas Kotelnik in the 12th round.
More Success in Boxing
After losing his world title, Gavin took a break from boxing for over a year. He returned in August 2009 and won his first fight back.
In December 2009, Gavin entered a special boxing tournament called Prizefighter. He won three fights in one night! He beat Ted Bami, then Jason Cook, and finally Colin Lynes to win the competition and a big prize.
After his Prizefighter win, Gavin changed his weight class to lightweight. He quickly found success there too. He won the British lightweight title in 2010. He later won the European title in 2011 and then won the British title again in 2012.
In 2013, Gavin fought Adrien Broner for another world title, the World Boxing Council lightweight title. The fight took place in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Gavin lost this fight in the 5th round.
Personal Life
Gavin Rees lives in a place called Pantside in Wales. He has five daughters. Today, Gavin works as a boxing trainer in his hometown at a gym called The Rocks Gym. He helps train new boxers.
