Gavin Rees, often called "The Rock," is a famous Welsh boxer who used to be a world champion. Born on May 10, 1980, he competed as a professional boxer from 1998 to 2014. After retiring from fighting, he became a boxing trainer, helping other boxers. He held the WBA super lightweight title from 2007 to 2008. He also won the British lightweight title twice and the European lightweight title.

Gavin Rees's Boxing Journey
Gavin Rees had a great start in amateur boxing before he became a professional in 1998. He quickly showed his talent in the ring.
Becoming a World Champion
In 2007, Gavin Rees faced Souleymane M'baye for the WBA Light Welterweight title. After 12 rounds of intense boxing, Rees won by a unanimous decision. This meant all the judges agreed he was the winner, making him a world champion!
However, Gavin lost his world title in his very first defense. In March 2008, he fought Andreas Kotelnik and lost in the 12th round by TKO (Technical Knockout).
More Boxing Success
After losing his world title, Gavin Rees took a break from boxing for over a year. He returned in August 2009, winning against Johnny Greaves. Later that year, on December 4, Rees entered a special boxing tournament called the Prizefighter competition.
In this tournament, he had to fight multiple opponents in one night. He beat Ted Bami in the quarter-finals, then Jason Cook in the semi-finals. Finally, he defeated Colin Lynes in the championship match to win the £32,000 prize!
After his Prizefighter victory, Rees moved to a lighter weight class called lightweight. He quickly found success there too. In 2010, he won the British lightweight title. He later won the European title in June 2011 and then regained the British title in July 2012.
In February 2013, Gavin Rees had another big fight. He challenged Adrien Broner for the World Boxing Council lightweight world title in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Rees fought hard but lost the fight in the 5th round by TKO.
