Geff Harrison's Music Journey
Starting Out in Music
Geff Harrison began his music career in the early 1960s. He performed in the Manchester and Salford areas of England. In 1963, he joined a band called The Chasers. They even opened shows for famous groups like The Beatles! In 1966, he joined another band, Some Other Guys. They traveled to Germany in 1967 to perform for soldiers there.
Making Music in Germany
After Some Other Guys, Harrison joined the hard rock band I Drive in 1968. Later, he became part of Twenty Sixty Six and Then. In 1973, he joined Kin Ping Meh, taking over as their lead singer. He also sang on the 1976 album Between The Universes by Tritonus.
After three years, Harrison decided to start his own solo career. His first solo album, Salford, came out in 1976. A music magazine called Sounds said his talent was "rarely published." In 1977, he formed the Geff Harrison Band. They recorded popular songs like "Death of a Clown" and "Do You Miss Me." He also toured with other musicians.
Harrison worked for five years with Dieter Bohlen, a famous producer. He helped write lyrics for songs by Modern Talking, including hits like "You Can Win If You Want" and "Cheri Cheri Lady." He also wrote lyrics for songs used by CCCatch. Harrison wrote lyrics for sixteen songs for Modern Talking. He helped Bohlen with the words and ideas for the songs.
Harrison was not given credit for his work on the albums. This led to a disagreement with Bohlen. In February 1986, Harrison went to court to get credit for the Modern Talking songs. The court decided that both Bohlen and Harrison wrote songs for Modern Talking. The music contracts were changed to show this.
Later Music Projects
Harrison also worked as a producer and composer for many artists. These included Herman's Hermits. He produced an album with pop singer Taco Ockerse. He also wrote songs for musicals called Yesterday and Time After Time.
In 2003, Harrison helped write songs for the Mountain Rock Symphony project. He worked with artist and composer Wolfgang Zabba Lindner. Later, Harrison released an album with Peter Panka and Werner Nadolny from the group Jane. This album was called Harrison Panka Nadolny Band.
In 2005, Kin Ping Meh reunited, and Harrison was their lead singer again. Since 2011, Harrison has been the lead singer of a band called The Glowballs. They play classic rock and roll songs from the 1950s and 1960s.
In 2015, he released a solo album called Purple Magic. In 2016, he released two more albums: his solo album Forever Young and an album with The Glowballs.
In 2017, Harrison and Manne Kraski wrote a song about Brexit. This was when Great Britain left the European Union. The song was released as a single called "Brexit (Mind The Gap)."
In 2018, Harrison was a contestant on the German TV show The Voice Senior. He sang "A Whiter Shade of Pale" for his first audition. All four coaches wanted him on their team! He chose to join Yvonne Catterfeld's team. He later performed "The First Cut Is the Deepest". Even though many people praised his singing, he did not make it to the finals.
