Gene Dunlap (born June 19, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan) is an American drummer and bandleader. He is known for his work in jazz, soul, disco, and R&B music.
About Gene Dunlap
Gene Dunlap grew up in Detroit, Michigan. He started playing the drums when he was in high school. His talent quickly grew, and he joined the famous guitarist Earl Klugh as a drummer.
Over the years, Gene also played with other well-known musicians. These included Roy Ayers, who played the vibraphone, and guitarist Grant Green.
In the mid-1970s, Gene rejoined Earl Klugh. They worked together for 20 years, recording many albums. Some of these albums were released with Capitol Records.
After 1994, Gene took a break from performing music. He decided to teach music to young people in Detroit. But he returned to music in April 2000, leading his own band and playing the drums again.

Gene Dunlap has released several albums and singles throughout his career. His music often blends different styles like jazz, soul, and disco.
Some of his albums include It's Just the Way I Feel and Party in Me, both released in 1981. He also released Tired of Being a Nice Guy in 1983 and Groove with You in 1994. After returning to music, he released Tales of the Phatman in 2000, I Still Believe and Waasup? in 2003, and Peaceful Days in 2004.
He also released many singles, which are individual songs. Some of his singles include "Before You Break My Heart" and "Something Inside My Head."
