Where is General Enrique Martínez?
This village is found at the very end of Route 17. It's also at the south end of Route 91. The village sits on the north side of the Cebollatí River. It is west of where the Arroyo del Parao stream flows into the river.
A special boat called a pontoon ferry helps people cross the Cebollatí River. This ferry connects the village to a road about 7.5 kilometers long. That road then leads to Cebollatí in the Rocha Department.

What is the Economy Like?
The main ways people make a living here are through farming and raising animals. You can see many large rice fields around the village. Fishing is also an important activity.
Tourism is growing in the area too. The village has a port that was once very busy. It was used to trade goods with Brazil. One of the main products exported was "jerky," which is a type of dried meat. This is why the town was recently given its other name, La Charqueada, which relates to jerky.
