Jeffrey Crompton, often known as "Geoff" or "Geff", was an American professional basketball player. He was born on July 4, 1955, and passed away on January 7, 2002. Geoff played as a center and was known for his height, standing at 6 feet 11 inches tall.

Early Life and College Basketball
Geoff Crompton grew up in Burlington, North Carolina. He went to Walter M. Williams High School. In high school, he was recognized as a top player, earning a spot on the Parade All-American team in 1973.
After high school, Geoff went to the University of North Carolina. He played basketball for the Tar Heels under coach Dean Smith. Coach Smith is a very famous coach and is in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Geoff played in a few games during his first years at college. In his final year, the 1977–78 season, he played in 27 games. During that season, he averaged about 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Geoff Crompton was chosen in the 1978 NBA draft by the Kansas City Kings. Before the season started, his rights were traded to the Denver Nuggets.
Geoff spent several years playing in both the NBA and the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). One of the biggest moments in his career was in 1984. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the CBA while playing for the Puerto Rico Coquis. Later that season, the Cleveland Cavaliers called him up to play for them. This was his last time playing in the NBA.
Life After Basketball
After his professional basketball career ended, Geoff Crompton moved to Tallahassee, Florida. There, he managed a restaurant. He also spent many years helping out at the University of North Carolina's summer basketball camps. Geoff Crompton passed away on January 7, 2002, due to leukemia.
