About Geoffrey Hayes

Geoffrey Hayes grew up in San Francisco. His family moved around a lot. By the time he was twelve, they had moved ten times! Geoffrey and his younger brother, Rory, loved pop culture and comic books. They enjoyed comics like Little Lulu, Uncle Scrooge, Sugar and Spike, and Dick Tracy.

Their mother encouraged them to be creative. Together, the brothers made their own comics at home. As teenagers, they kept making comics, home movies, and even fan magazines called fanzines.

After high school, Hayes moved to New York City. He wanted to become an illustrator and cartoonist. He worked on some special comics called "underground comix." He often worked with his brother Rory, who was becoming famous in that field.

Geoffrey Hayes passed away on June 2, 2017. He was 69 years old and died in Asheville, North Carolina.
