George Klay Kieh Jr. (born March 2, 1956) is an educator and politician from Liberia. He is known for admiring former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

Early Life and Education

George Kieh was born in Harbel, Firestone, Liberia, on March 2, 1956. He attended the University of Liberia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. His main subject was political science.

Kieh then moved to the United States to continue his studies. He went to Northwestern University in Illinois. There, he earned both his master's degree and his Ph.D. in political science.

Political Career and Teaching

In 2005, George Kieh ran for president of Liberia. He was the candidate for the New Deal Movement (NDM) party. The election took place on October 11, 2005. He ran with Alaric Tokpa as his running mate. Kieh finished 17th out of 22 candidates. He received 0.5% of the total votes.

After the election, Kieh became a professor. He taught Political Science at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. Before that, he taught for many years at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. At Morehouse College, he also served as the Dean of the Political Science Department.

When he returned to Grand Valley State University, he focused on certain topics. These included developing countries, conflicts, and African politics. In 2009, he was named the Dean of Arts and Sciences. This new role was at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia. He started this position on July 1, 2009.
