George Knobel (born December 10, 1922 – died May 5, 2012) was a famous Dutch football manager. He is best known for coaching the Netherlands national team and leading them to third place at the 1976 European Championship.

Early Life and Coaching Start
George Knobel was born in Roosendaal, Netherlands. He passed away in the same city many years later. Knobel became a well-known football manager during his career.
He started his coaching journey with clubs like VV Baronie. He managed them from 1966 to 1969. After that, he coached MVV for several years, from 1969 to 1973.
Managing Top Clubs
Knobel's skills as a manager led him to coach some big teams. He managed Ajax, one of the most famous Dutch clubs, from 1973 to 1974. This was a significant step in his career.
After his time at Ajax, he took on an even bigger role. He became the manager of the Netherlands national team.
Leading the National Team
George Knobel coached the Netherlands national team from 1974 to 1976. During his time, the team played 15 matches. They won 9 of these games, had 1 draw, and lost 5.
His biggest achievement with the national team was at the European Championship of 1976. Under his guidance, the Dutch team finished in third place. This was a proud moment for Dutch football.
Later Career and International Experience
After coaching the national team, Knobel returned to club management. He had another spell with MVV from 1976 to 1978. He also coached Beerschot in Belgium for a couple of periods.
Knobel also gained international experience outside of Europe. He managed the Hong Kong national team from 1980 to 1981. He also coached the club Seiko SA in Hong Kong in 1981 and again in 1985. Later in his career, he managed RBC from 1996 to 2000.
