George Morrow facts for kids
George Morrow (born around 1934 – died May 7, 2003) was an important person in the early days of personal computers in the United States. He helped make the S-100 bus popular and improved it. This "bus" was a special way for different parts inside early computers to talk to each other. Morrow was also a member of the Homebrew Computer Club, a group of computer fans who met to share ideas and build their own machines.

George Morrow was a smart engineer who loved computers. He played a big role in the 1970s and 1980s when computers were just starting to become popular for homes and small businesses. He helped create some of the first personal computers.
Building Early Computers
Starting in 1976, George Morrow began designing and selling computers. He also sold parts and accessories for computers. He used several company names, but his most famous one was Morrow Designs. His companies built microcomputers, which were small computers for their time.
The CP/M Operating System
The computers made by Morrow Designs used a special program called CP/M. This was an operating system, like Windows or macOS today. An operating system is the main software that makes a computer work. CP/M was very popular before other operating systems came along.
Facing New Challenges
In 1981, a big change happened in the computer world. The company IBM started selling its own personal computer, called the IBM PC. This computer quickly became very popular. It used a different operating system than CP/M.
The End of Morrow Designs
Because the IBM PC was so successful, it became hard for Morrow Designs and other companies making CP/M computers to compete. Many people wanted the new IBM PC. In 1986, Morrow Designs had to close down. Even though his company didn't last, George Morrow's work helped shape the computer world we know today.
