George Arthur Rogers, born on September 14, 1958, is a Canadian politician. He is from Leduc, Alberta. Mr. Rogers served on the city council and was even the mayor of Leduc. Later, he became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Leduc-Beaumont. He belongs to the Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta.

About George Rogers
Early Life and Education
George Rogers was born in Jamaica. He moved to Canada in 1975. He is a father of three children. Mr. Rogers has always been a very active volunteer in his community.
He finished Leduc Senior High School in 1977. In 1980, he earned a diploma in business administration from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. He also studied local government at the University of Alberta in 1988. After college, he worked in the oil industry, handling accounting jobs.
Starting in Public Service
In 1986, Mr. Rogers began working for the city of Leduc as an assistant treasurer. After three years, he moved to Redcliff, Alberta. There, he helped manage the town as a municipal administrator.
Political Journey
Serving Leduc City Council
In 1992, George Rogers returned to Leduc. He started a career in real estate sales. That same year, he decided to run for a spot on the city council. He was elected in 1992 and again in 1995.
In October 1998, the people of Leduc elected him as their mayor. He was re-elected for a second term in October 2001.
Work with Municipalities
From 1993 to 2003, Mr. Rogers was a board member for the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association. He even served as its president from 2001 to 2003. He also represented Alberta on the board of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities. Because of his hard work, Alberta Venture Magazine named him one of Alberta's 50 Most Influential People in 2003.
Becoming an MLA
On November 22, 2004, George Rogers was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). He represented the area of Leduc-Beaumont-Devon. He was re-elected in 2008 and again in 2012.
During his time as an MLA, he held several important roles. On December 15, 2006, he joined the Treasury Board. From 2012 to 2015, he served as the Deputy Speaker and Chair of committees. He also helped with various other committees, including those focused on public health and safety.
In the 2015 election, Mr. Rogers was not re-elected. He was defeated by Shaye Anderson.
