George Tuchet, also known as the 9th Baron Audley, was an important English nobleman who lived in the 1500s. He held a special title called "Baron," which meant he was a member of the highest social class in England. He passed away in June 1560.

Who Was George Tuchet?

George Tuchet was born into a noble family. His father was John Tuchet, 8th Baron Audley, who was also a Baron. Being a Baron meant George was part of the group of people who advised the king or queen.

His Family Life

George Tuchet was married two times during his life. His first wife was Elizabeth Tuke. They got married before August 30, 1538. Elizabeth was the daughter of a man named Sir Brian Tuke.

Later, in 1559, George married his second wife, Joan Platt. This wedding took place in a city called Chester. George had one son named Henry Tuchet, 10th Baron Audley. Henry would later become a Baron, just like his father.

Becoming a Baron

George Tuchet became the 9th Baron Audley in 1557. He inherited this important title. This happened through a special document called a "writ." A writ was an official order from the king or queen. It confirmed his right to the title.

His Later Years

George Tuchet died in June 1560. He was buried on July 3, 1560. His burial place was St Margaret's Church in Westminster, London. After his death, his only son, Henry Tuchet, took over his title. Henry became the 10th Baron Audley.
