Georges' Early Life Journey
Georges Mukumbilwa was born in a place called Kalima in the Democratic Republic of Congo. When he was young, his family had to leave their home because of a civil war. They lived in a refugee camp in Rwanda for a while.
At age 13, Georges and his family moved to Winnipeg, Canada. This is where he started playing organized soccer with a team called Portage Trail SC. He quickly became good enough to join the Manitoba provincial team for players under 15.
In 2014, Georges joined the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy. This is a special program for young, talented soccer players. He even played for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 team. In 2016, he was called up to the Whitecaps FC 2 squad, but he didn't get to play in that match.
Playing for Professional Clubs
Starting with Vancouver Whitecaps FC
In August 2019, Georges signed a special contract with Major League Soccer club Vancouver Whitecaps FC. He was considered a "homegrown player." This means he had trained within the club's youth system.
On October 6, 2019, Georges played his first game in Major League Soccer. He came into the game as a substitute in the 80th minute. The Whitecaps lost that game 1–0 to Real Salt Lake.
Georges did not play in any games during the 2020 season. He had some issues with his travel documents. This stopped him from going to the United States, where the Whitecaps played most of their games. This was also during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On November 30, 2020, Vancouver Whitecaps FC decided to release Georges. The team's CEO, Axel Schuster, said that Georges was a hard-working player with good character. He also said it was the right time for Georges to find a new team. This would allow him to play more often. In 2021, he tried out for another Canadian team, Valour FC.
Joining Pacific FC
In March 2022, Georges Mukumbilwa signed with Canadian Premier League team Pacific FC. He had tried out with them during their preseason training.
In his first season with Pacific FC, Georges helped the team make it to the playoffs. In September 2023, he signed an extension to his contract. This meant he would stay with the team through the 2024 season. The club also had an option to keep him for 2025. After the 2024 season, Pacific FC decided to keep him for 2025.
Playing for Canada
In 2016, Georges was chosen to play for the Canada U18 team. This was a great honor for him.
