Geraldine Hunt (born Geraldine Milligan; February 10, 1945 – October 27, 2022) was an American singer. She was famous for her R&B and disco music. Her biggest hit was "Can't Fake the Feeling" in 1980. This song reached number one on the dance music charts.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Geraldine Hunt was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents were Rosie Lee Vickers and Frank Milligan. Music was a big part of her family. Her father was a one-man band, meaning he could play many instruments by himself. Her grandmother, Louella Reed, was also a singer. She performed on the Chitlin Circuit, which was a network of venues for Black entertainers.
In 1947, Geraldine's family moved to Chicago. She grew up on the south side of the city. Life there was sometimes tough, but she found her musical talent.
School Days and Friendships
Geraldine attended Hyde Park High School. This was a special time for her. Her best friend at school was Minnie Riperton. Minnie later became a famous soul singer and songwriter.
Hyde Park High School was a place where many talented musicians grew up. Besides Geraldine and Minnie, a girl group called Coffee also came from the school.
Music Career Highlights
Geraldine Hunt started her music career as a teenager. She released her first songs in 1962. Her first success came in 1970 with a song called "You & I." It was a duet with Charlie Hodges. This song reached No. 45 on the R&B music chart. In 1972, her version of "Baby I Need Your Loving" also did well.
In 1975, Geraldine moved to Montreal, Canada. There, she recorded her first album in 1978. It was a disco album called Sweet Honesty.
Her second album, No Way, came out in 1980. This album included her most famous song, "Can't Fake the Feeling." This song became a huge hit. It reached number one on the club music charts and stayed there for seven weeks. Even though it was a big dance hit, it didn't play much on regular radio. However, it was very popular in France, reaching No. 10. It also charted in the UK at No. 44.
Geraldine also helped write and produce music for other artists. In 1982, she worked with the musical group Chéri.
In 2014, Geraldine Hunt received a special award. She was honored for her important work in writing and publishing music. This award was given at the 25th Anniversary SOCAN Montreal Gala.

Geraldine Hunt was a mother of three children. Her daughter, Rosalind Hunt, was part of the musical group Chéri. Her son, Freddie James, is also a singer. Her other child, Jeanne Croteau, is a professor and writer. Geraldine also had seven grandchildren.
