The German Wikipedia (which is Deutschsprachige Wikipedia in German) is the version of Wikipedia written in the German language. It was started on March 16, 2001. This makes it the second-oldest Wikipedia and the very first one not written in English.
It is also one of the biggest Wikipedias! It ranks as the third largest by the number of articles. Only the English Wikipedia and the Swedish Wikipedia have more articles. As of June 2025, the German Wikipedia has about Expression error: Unexpected < operator. articles.
