Gero Storjohann (born February 12, 1958 – died January 29, 2023) was a German politician. He was a member of the Bundestag, which is like Germany's national parliament, from 2002 until he passed away in 2023. He belonged to the Christian Democratic Union party. Storjohann was known for working to improve transportation, especially for bicycles. From 2005, he was also the vice chairman of the Committee on Petitions.

Early Life and Education
Gero Storjohann was born in Bad Segeberg, Germany, on February 12, 1958. He finished high school at the Dahlmannschule in his hometown. After school, he served as a soldier in the German military from 1978 to 1980.
In 1982, he completed special training to become a merchant. Later, he studied business administration at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences. He graduated from there in 1987.
His Political Journey
From 1988 to 1994, Gero Storjohann worked for the German postal service. He became involved in politics at a young age. In 1975, he joined the Junge Union, which is the youth wing of the Christian Democratic Union party. Two years later, in 1977, he joined the main Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party.
He held several important roles in the Segeberg district. He led the Junge Union there from 1982 to 1991. He also served as a deputy leader and later as the main leader of the district CDU party. From 1990 to 1994, he was a member of the district parliament.
In 1994, Storjohann was elected to the Landtag of Schleswig-Holstein. This is the state parliament for the region where he lived. In the Landtag, he was the CDU's spokesperson for housing policies. He served in the state parliament until 2002.
Serving in the Bundestag
In 2002, Gero Storjohann was elected to the Bundestag, Germany's national parliament. He represented the area of Segeberg – Stormarn-Mitte. In the Bundestag, he was a member of the committee that handles petitions from citizens. From 2005, he became the vice chairman of this important committee.
He also served on the committee for transport and digital infrastructure. Here, he was a special spokesperson for his party on road safety and cycling. He worked hard to improve transportation in Schleswig-Holstein. He especially focused on building more bicycle paths and making cycling safer for everyone. From 2018, he also led the German-Austrian parliamentary friendship group.
In June 2017, Storjohann voted for Germany to allow marriage for all couples. This was different from what most of his party voted for. In 2018, he supported Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer to become the new leader of the CDU party.
Other Activities and Personal Life
Gero Storjohann was involved in other groups too. He chaired the rail infrastructure advisory council for the Federal Network Agency starting in 2012. He was also a board member of the German Road Safety Council from 2013 to 2016. He was a member of the Europa-Union Deutschland.
Storjohann was married to Maren, and they had three sons. His family lived in Seth, a town in the Segeberg district. He was very passionate about cycling.
Sadly, Gero Storjohann became very ill in April 2022. He remained a member of the Bundestag until he passed away on January 29, 2023, at the age of 64. After his death, Melanie Bernstein took his seat in the Bundestag.
