Where Gettings Creek Flows
Gettings Creek starts its journey near a place called Prune Hill. From there, it generally flows towards the west. As it gets closer to Interstate 5 (a major highway), it makes a sharp turn and heads north.
Its Journey to the River
The creek eventually flows into the Coast Fork Willamette River. This meeting point is near the town of Walker. It's located between two other towns you might know: Cottage Grove to the south and Creswell to the north. If you're traveling on Interstate 5, you might even spot the Gettings Creek rest area right next to the creek!
How Gettings Creek Got Its Name
Gettings Creek, along with another stream called North Fork Gettings Creek, was named after an early settler. His name was Samuel A. Gettings. He lived near the creek way back in 1888. That's how the creek got its special name!
