Gholam Hossein Mazloumi (Persian: غلام‌حسین مظلومی; born 13 January 1950 – died 19 November 2014) was a famous Iranian football player and coach. People often called him Sar Talaei, which means "Golden Head", because he was so good at scoring goals.

He played for several big clubs like Taj Abadan, Taj Tehran (now known as Esteghlal), and Shahbaz FC. He also played for the Iranian national team and the national youth team. Later, he even managed Esteghlal for a short time. Gholam Hossein Mazloumi was known for scoring many goals. He scored 19 goals for the Iranian national team. He was the top scorer at the 1974 Asian Games and the 1976 AFC Asian Cup.

Early Life and Family

Gholam Hossein Mazloumi was born on 13 January 1950 in Abadan, a city in Iran. He grew up with two sisters and six brothers. One of his brothers, Parviz, also became a professional football player and coach, just like Gholam Hossein.

Playing for Clubs

Mazloumi was a very important player for Taj Tehran. He helped his team win the Asian Club Championship in the 1969–70 season. This was a huge win for the club.

He also helped his team win the Iranian league in the 1970–71 and 1974–75 seasons. In the 1973–74 season, his team finished in second place. Mazloumi was known as one of the best strikers in Iranian football history. He was very good at scoring goals and rarely missed a chance.

He was the top goalscorer in the Iranian league for two years in a row, in 1973–74 and 1974–75. He was also the top scorer again in the 1976–77 season while playing for Shahbaz. He had to stop playing football in 1978 when he was 28 years old because of an injury.

Playing for Iran's National Team

Mazloumi first played for the Iran national team in September 1969. This was in a match against Pakistan. He played a total of 40 games for the national team, which is also known as Team Melli. He scored 19 goals for his country.

He helped Iran win three big tournaments. These included the 1972 Asian Cup and the football tournament at the 1974 Asian Games held in Tehran. He also won the 1976 Asian Cup in Tehran, where he was one of the top scorers. Mazloumi also played in the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, where Iran's team made it to the quarterfinals.

Life After Playing Football

After he stopped playing, Gholam Hossein Mazloumi became a coach. In 1980, he started coaching the youth team of Esteghlal. Later, in 1988, he became the main coach for Esteghlal's first team. Under his coaching, Esteghlal finished third in the league.

He also coached the Iran U-20 team. He managed other clubs too, like Esteghlal Ahvaz, Moghavemat Tehran, Petroshimi Mahshahr, and Payam Tehran.

Mazloumi was also the chairman of Shahin Bushehr from 2011 to 2013. He had to leave this role because he became ill. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2012. Gholam Hossein Mazloumi passed away on 19 November 2014, at the age of 64. At the time of his death, he was also an honorary deputy chairman for Esteghlal. He is remembered by his wife, four children, and three grandchildren.
