Giampaolo Menichelli (born on June 29, 1938) is a famous Italian football player. He played as a winger, which is a player who runs along the sides of the field. Giampaolo was known for being very fast and quick on his feet. He was also good with the ball and always played well with his team. He could score goals too! His brother, Franco Menichelli, was also a great athlete. He was an Olympic champion in gymnastics.

Playing for Football Clubs

Giampaolo Menichelli played football for 12 seasons. He played in Italy's top league, called Serie A. During his career, he played for several well-known teams. These teams included A.S. Roma, A.C. Parma, Juventus FC, Brescia Calcio, and Cagliari Calcio. He played in 261 games and scored 60 goals in Serie A.

Time with Roma

While playing for A.S. Roma, Giampaolo Menichelli was a key player. He worked very well with another winger named Alberto Orlando. Together, they helped Roma win an important competition. This was the 1960–61 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in the 1960-1961 season.

Success with Juventus

Menichelli spent six seasons playing for Juventus FC. This was a very successful time for him. In the 1964-1965 season, he helped Juventus win the Coppa Italia. He was even the top scorer in that competition, with 3 goals. Juventus also reached the final of the 1964–65 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup that same season. However, they lost 1-0 to Ferencváros in Turin.

He also helped Juventus win the 1966–67 Serie A title. This was during the 1966-1967 season. He scored an impressive 11 goals in 33 games that season.

Playing for Italy

Giampaolo Menichelli also played for the Italy national football team. He played for his country during the 1960s. In total, he played in 9 games for Italy between 1962 and 1964. He scored one goal for Italy. This goal came in a 3-1 win against Belgium on May 13, 1962.

World Cup Experience

Menichelli was part of the Italian team that played in the 1962 FIFA World Cup. This big tournament took place in 1962. He played in two matches during the World Cup. These games were against Germany and Chile. Unfortunately, Italy did not make it past the group stage in that tournament.
