Gianuario Carta (born January 1, 1931 – died February 14, 2017) was an Italian politician. He was also known by his nickname, Ariuccio. He belonged to the Christian Democracy political party.

About Gianuario Carta
Gianuario Carta was born in Bitti, a town on the island of Sardinia, Italy. This was on January 1, 1931. He studied law at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. After finishing his studies, he became a lawyer. He also served as the president for lawyers in the province of Nuoro.
Early Political Career
Before joining national politics, Gianuario Carta worked in local government. In 1965, he was part of a regional council. This was his first step into public service.
Serving in Parliament
In 1968, Carta was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies. This is like one of the main parts of Italy's parliament. He was a member of the Christian Democracy party. He served in the Chamber of Deputies until 1983.
After that, he moved to the Italian Senate. This is the other main part of Italy's parliament. He was a Senator from 1983 to 1992.
While he was a Senator, Gianuario Carta also became a government minister. From 1983 to 1986, he served as the Minister of the Merchant Navy. This role meant he was in charge of things related to Italy's shipping and sea trade. He was part of the government led by Prime Minister Bettino Craxi.

During his time in the Senate, Carta led important committees. He was the head of the Senate's Agriculture and Forestry Committee. This committee dealt with farming and forests. Later, he also led a special committee that looked into a financial issue involving a bank branch in Atlanta.

Gianuario Carta was also known for his work as a lawyer. He helped the Melis family in a very important case. The family sued the Ministry of Defense. This was because a family member had passed away after serving in Kosovo. Carta helped them win their case.
Later Life
Gianuario Carta passed away in Cagliari, Italy, on February 14, 2017.
