Giles Mutsekwa (born 14 September 1948 – died 27 June 2022) was an important politician from Zimbabwe. He was chosen to be one of the two co-ministers for Home Affairs in February 2009. This happened as part of a special "unity government" in Zimbabwe. He was appointed by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
Mr. Mutsekwa also worked as the secretary for Security and Intelligence for the MDC-T party. From 2000 to 2008, he served as a MP for the area of Mutare North. In 2010, his role changed, and he became the Minister for Housing.
Giles Mutsekwa's Early Career
Before becoming a well-known politician, Giles Mutsekwa was involved in different political groups. He was a member of the Zimbabwe Unity Movement. He also helped start The Democratic Party and was its National Chairman.
His Time in the Military
Giles Mutsekwa was also a trained soldier. He received several military awards for his service. These included the General Service Medal and the Bronze Cross of Zimbabwe. He held various positions in the army. In 1983, he was promoted to the rank of captain. He also took part in military campaigns in Mozambique between 1982 and 1986. He was a very important member of the MDC-T party in the Manicaland region.
