Gino's Pizza and Spaghetti is a well-known restaurant chain that serves delicious pizza and spaghetti. Most of its 40 locations are found in the state of West Virginia, in the United States. The company was started by Kenney Grant in 1961. Many Gino's restaurants share a building with Tudor's Biscuit World, another popular food chain. However, you'll only find Gino's in West Virginia. The main offices for Gino's are in Huntington and Nitro, West Virginia.
How Gino's Pizza Started
Kenney Grant, the founder of Gino's, learned how to make pizza dough in Norwood, Ohio. He spent two weeks there learning the secrets of making great pizza. After his training, Grant returned to West Virginia. He opened the very first Gino's restaurant on April 1, 1961.
The Original Gino's Location
The first Gino's Pizza restaurant is still open today in Huntington, West Virginia. You can find it on 5th Avenue, right across from the Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. This special location has a unique piece of history inside: the original scoreboard from Fairfield Stadium. During football season, the scoreboard shows the latest score for Marshall University's football team. When it's not football season, it displays the score from the 1971 Marshall versus Xavier University game. This particular game was featured in the movie We Are Marshall.
